When people with vision work together to take action, progress occurs! In this edition of the Symetra Community Series, visionaries from business, government and the nonprofit sector are already taking action to overcome one of the world’s most difficult challenges: poverty.
In 2003, a group of civic minded people formed the Initiative for Global Development (IGD) www.igdleaders.org in Seattle, Washington. The founding belief is that global poverty is at the root of many of the world’s greatest challenges. Dramatically reducing it is one of the most effective steps we can take in creating a better future. Addressing the inequities of people living in poverty is a critical factor in ensuring the future prosperity and security of us all.
Listen to what is being accomplished and how you can help.

Too often, problems like third-world development seem hopeless. But the visonaries in this series have learned from the mistakes of the past by launching new solutions that are judged by measurable results rather than compliance to a particular ideology. Their stories - largely untold in the media - prove that human creativity is universal and needs only to be unleashed.
