The Clark County sheriff's office says a man who accidentally shot himself in the foot as he was unloading his gun could be charged with reckless endangerment.

The shot went through the floor and into the bedroom of an apartment below. The Vancouver Columbian reports the residents were in another room Tuesday and heard the gunshot, but were unharmed.

The man was treated at a hospital for a wounded toe.

    Losers
I've owned guns for over 40 years and I've NEVER had an accidental discharge. Anyone who does is an idiot, and shouldn't be a loud to own a gun. And to the fool who says "shiat happens", are you joking? We're taking about a deadly weapon, not a glass of spilled milk. If you think it's no big deal that some loser accidentally fires a round into the neighbors apartment, then you are a bigger idiot than the guy with the gun. Am I the only one whose father taught him proper gun handling? I guarantee you my boys (ages 12 &14) will NEVER accidentally put a bullet in the neighbors bedroom. They have been taught the right way, and they know accidents with guns don't just "happen", unless you are a complete idiot.

    well said mrroper....
I agree completely. You are not the only one whose father taught them safe gun handling, and good for you for passing it on to your kids.

I've had an AD. That is why one practices safe firearms use. My fiream malfuntioned and fired when I chambered a round. The round went downrange per plan. Nothing to laugh at however. Now pointing it at the apartment down below...that is stupid.

I also agree that an accidental discharge of a weapon is not a common occurence but it also does happen. That is why you always point the muzzle away from anything that you do not intend to shoot. Basic safety training. I have never had an accidental discharge but while in the Army had a few too many ocurrences. It is a fact of life. A gun is a tool and is prone to mishandling and just plain wear, tear and abuse. To condemn this man is utter folly. Why did this make the news and not the fact that a neighbor of mine used a chain saw and dropped a tree on his neighbors home? Get a life all of you. This is just plain propaganda meant to skew gun owners as knuckle draggers and fools. If you are a responsible gun owner you should use this as a teaching moment for your children. If you do not ike guns, Piss off.

    Please get training
If you are going to carry a gun or have one in your house (I do) please obtain proper hand gun safety and tactical training. Go to www.frontsight.com if you want the best in the world, but local training is also available. Don't assume that an occasional trip to the range is all you need. You don't know what you don't know and could be a danger to those around you... and yourself.

    Dumb
As a USMC vet and life NRA member I think that this is a dumb xxxx that should not have any guns. A little training could help prevent a lot of XXXX happens. It seams that every month we hear about someone cleaning their (gun) and shoot one of their kids or a spouse. I wonder why Irishpaddy can get by with xx and I can't?
