Goodbye to a TBTL icon

On Friday night Sean's betta fish, TB, passed away. TB came into our lives in June of 2008 as a gift from Intern Emeritus, Jamie "the Grizza" Griswold. He sat on the desk of our cubicle everyday doing nothing and un-noticed, except by Sean.

Early in July of 2008 we attempted the mating process between TB and Jamie's fish, KI, on air. It was known as "The Great Squeeze". Alas, the fish had no chemistry and no bettas were conceived.

Here is Sean's loving goodbye to TB.

Condolences may be sent to Sean@tbtl.net and any remembrances may be made to the TBTL-a-thon.

Today On TBTL: The Guys Who Make The Jimmy Fallon Show Awesome.

tbtl2tbtl3
A.D. Miles and Michael Blieden: The Cheech and Chong of Comedy.

With all the hoo-hah lately about Conan v. Leno, not enough has been said about the awesomeness that is, Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. Today on TBTL, we chat with a couple of the folks who make that show what it is, A.D. Miles (head writer) and Michael Blieden (writer and Director of the show's awesome digital shorts).

A.D. and Michael will talk about what their plan was had the show been booted to 1:00am, their biggest flops during year one, and the moment from last week that had them hugging each other in the hallway at 30 Rock.

See you then.

Seriously You Guys

tbtl1
We're celebrating the end of the TBTL-athon in the traditional way, by drinking a glass of pearls.

Thanks so much to all of you for the donations and the super thoughtful emails about why you were choosing to support us during last week's TBTL-athon. No joke, you guys have made it possible for us to keep cranking the episodes out for the foreseeable future, and we couldn't be more grateful.

If you're a time-bandit and still want to get in on the hot hot action, we'll leave the TBTL-athon banner link thingy up at the top of the page. You are always welcome to join us.

Thanks again you beautiful people.

Now let's crank out some Imaginary Radio.

Ruling from the ad hoc TBTL Science Council

When I told Luke about Mr. Knightly shorting out the tree lights in Seaside, FL by peeing on them, Luke immediately expressed concern for Knightly's potty parts. Could he have been shocked by the electricity?

From Alex: you can't be electrocuted by urine because, in it's pure form, water is actually a poor conductor of electricity. It's the various other minerals and impurities commonly found in water (salt, iron, etc) that do the conducting. Urine doesn't contain those same minerals because your body stripped them out before the it became waste and therefore doesn't have the properties that make standing in tap water with a live wire deadly

From Adam: urine streams are not one continuous stream, but rather because of physiology, it's lots of long drops that looks like one stream to our naked eye. Therefore, the electricity cannot conduct through an interrupted stream

I'm choosing to believe everything is fine with his junk as this is how he looked on the beach this morning:

I guess the next question is "Will the tree lights come back on once the dog pee has fully dried or do they have to be replaced?"

Travel Update: We leave Florida this morning to head for Georgia. We should be in Jekyll Island by early evening. Still haven't been able to get the leak fixed...please no rain...

Today on TBTL: Rachel Flotard

tbtl
You know her, you love her, you want some more of her.

Alright folks, I'm going to level with you.

All this week, while we've been begging for the change from your couch cushions, we've also been careful to weave in rad guests so that you have no choice but to listen. So for the final day, when you are presumably the most fed up with the TBTL-athon, we decided to break out the big guns. By which of course, we mean Rachel Flotard of Visqueen.

Last time we had Rachel on, she was 45 minutes late for the interview, complained about how she didn't have a label or booking agent, and delighted the living hell out of us (and you all, as evidenced by the hundreds of emails you sent in asking that we appoint her the new host of TBTL).

Well since we last spoke Rachel's played a slew of successful gigs, grabbed lots of media attention, and even made a trip to South East Asia to build a school.

She'll drop by Burbank Studios today to fill us on how the heck she's been doing.
