Road Tolls: More Than Just 520 Bridge

520 traffic enlargedTRAFFIC4 mPrepare for tolls on Puget Sound roads 24-7.

My first guest today, Sr. Fellow at Cascadia Center Matt Rosenberg, has written an extensive proposal on this.

As I've said before, if Olympia can eliminate the wasted spending like sound walls (tens of millions of dollars for each project) and use the gas tax money wisely, then they can come back to voters and seek authorization for tolls.

Governor in 70's promised no more toll
I remember that the Governor that was in office at the time when the Tolls were removed "Promised" that there will never be a Toll again on 520 (Which Means current or future Expansion) I can not find any citations in this Regard but I am sure Dori or somone else knows where to look:} the problem is not how much money we have but as Dori Said how it is used along with the fact That our Dept of transp is incapable of designing an Effective road System from the City lvl to the State lvl

    MORE TAXES?
I will NOT have a transponder in my car period! Olympia is out of control and it's way past time to get some new blood down there. Here are a few ideas to "save" money. Tax the indian gambling! Get rid of the sound barrior budget! Stop paying for health care for illeagles! Make the indians pay gas tax like everyone else! Close all state liquor stores! No fence on the auroa bridge! Stop RTA! 200 million a mile? Waht a joke. This will kill businesses down town! How can you raise taxes in the worst economy in most of our life times. If this happens, I will be outta here with my business that I can run from anywhere I want and I am a rare Washington native who just can't take it much more.

    compassion, victimology
Dori’s compassion for the little guy is touching. A few billion for roads is daunting, killing their families; but trillions for Iraq ok. Iraq -- talk about killing their families :-(

Tolls on our road and the war in Iraq.
I wonder how I didn't come to the same analogy. Then I realized, I’m not a bitter twisted psychopathic old man that has nothing of value to add to this blog.

    Government addicts
How much abuse will we take until we collectively say "No more new taxes for any reason until the politicians learn to spend with even a little bit of responsibility and priority"? Blindly forking over more and more without any accountability is morally wrong. It's wasting money that could really be helping people. It's simply enabling addicts.

More and more for our govt?
Anyone know how to cook a frog? If you throw it in boiling water, it will just jump out. But if you put it in cold water and slowly bring it to a boil it stays. That's how I'm feeling here, they just keep adding a little bit here and there to my tax burden, when is it too much? If we can live with a budget in our homes, is it really too much to ask our govt to do the same?

woe is us, condemed to live in representative democracy
The guest rightly pointed out that the transportation for this area will not be free. Delaying start till talk show hosts, whose MO for their, income is hate government, has faith in government means never getting to it. You might feel like that frog while you simmer in traffic backups.

We told over and over how we are victims of government and taxation. Over and over and over, until a Timothy McVeigh or Scotter Roeder explodes.

Almost all of your comments have no valuable input to the blog and are LOADED with vile hatred towards the host. Why?, Because you don’t agree with him or his views. If you are trying to advance your agenda and want to change the world, run for office. I would guess it would be under the Socialist or Fascist ticket.
