Do you travel or just want to look as if you do?

Today my guest is my long time friend and inspiration Lynette Wylie.
Lynette is one of the most adventurous travelers that I know. While traveling to Indonesia and far away exotic islands, Lynette procures some of the worlds most wonderful treasure which she sells to designers and to the public in her one of a kind treasure trove Island Life. If you do not want your home to appear as is a furniture truck just backed up and dumped off a load of overly coordinated furniture you will love Island Life, located at 2444 1st Ave, Seattle - (206) 340-1214.

Island Life was a suggestion made from a from a listener years ago that stated that I should check out the shop. Travel is difficult for many of us, yet true tribal art or the whimsy of kitchy collectables from far away lands offer our homes texture and interest. Today Lynette will explain the difference between tribal art and what exactly is "kitch"! Listen to my Inside Out show today from 11AM-1PM on KTTH 770.

The Latest Kichen Design Trend

In my world of design, change is a guarantee of my future employment.
If it were not for change, everyone would still love popcorn ceilings.

Change is good; because in my world change can mean that the form will better follow the function. Take the emerging trend for inset doors. Once only used in contemporary design to create a more streamline look, inset doors add a level of sophistication to the excess of what was the look of traditional cabinetry.

Inset doors vs overlay doors can be like driving your dad's GM truck, we all get the purpose yet given the new approach we applaud cleaner more efficient ride.

Design 101 Seminar

This Saturday, May 9th, I am offering my first design seminar in seven years at Bassett Furniture in Southcenter. I do not want to give too much away, yet I will tell you that defining one's own personal style is really the central core dilemma that most DIY decorators struggle with. Listeners often state that they are just not good with design or that they feel overwhelmed. When you leave this seminar the goal is to define YOUR STYLE! I promise to offer you tools and tricks from the trade and to inspire you to take on your interior design projects. Feel free to bring a friend or your mom. The suggested donation is $20, which goes to Fred Hutchinson's Climb for the Cure. Please join me this Saturday at the Design 101-Seminar at Bassett's Southcenter store. See you there!

You Have to See this Guy

Meet Devon, this week's Humane Society Pet of the Week.

Devon 6231079 1

Each week on my show I present an outstanding loving pet looking for a new home.Devon, a 2-year-old terrier mix, is one of the loving dogs at the Seattle Humane Society waiting for a home of his own. Devon is a constant companion. He will enjoy following you around the house, keeping you company, and making you smile. Volunteers practice basic commands with Devon daily, so he’ll be ready to learn new tricks with his new best friend. If you are looking for a smart and affectionate dog to add more laughter to your life, come meet Devon at the Seattle Humane Society, located at the junction of I-405 and I-90.

All dogs at the Seattle Humane Society have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped. They go home with 30 days of pet health insurance, a certificate for an examination by a King County veterinarian, and six weeks of training in one of our on-campus dog behavior courses. To see more pictures, visit http://www.seattlehumane.org/adoptionpets.shtml. For directions and hours, call (425) 641-0080.
