Michael Medved's Dad has died

As many listeners know by now, Michael Medved's dad, David Medved, passed away last night after a battle with Lymphoma. Luckily, Michael and his brothers were able to be with him in the hospital last week and share some very good time together as a family. While they knew their dad was dying, his passing did happen sooner than expected.

I spoke with Michael about his dad on Michael's show today (I filled in). Michael had a stop-over in New York on his way to attend the funeral, and wanted to use the time to express his love for his dad on his show. And anyone who listened to it would have to be impressed by the emotional fortitude of Michael as you heard the love in his voice as he described how grateful he was for his time with his dad, and as he described his desire to celebrate a life well-lived.

As some of us at the station were talking about sending condolences to the Medveds, I realized that you too may want the chance to send your condolences or express them here. If you'd like to send the Medved's a card, the station address is:

1820 Eastlake Ave East, Seattle WA 98102

You can send them care of me or the Medved show, either way, it will get to him.

fortunately I got to meet Mr. Medved at the Discovery Institute, at his book-signing of the book, "Hidden Light." It's always a pleasure to meet one of the children of Abraham.

    Prayers are with Michael
Thanks Dave for letting us know. I listen to MM, but am a month behind on podcasts. Michael talked about his dad all the time and you could tell there was deep love and respect. I sure hope his family can feel comfort in knowing he is with God. How did Michael handle the conversation? I would be breaking up. That must have been hard.

    Medved Family
I work from home in a virtual office in La Jolla California. I enjoy having Michael and his voice and deep mind in my home most days. In 1999 and 2000 I lost both my parents to old age and poor health - you helped me with bereavement, honour, loss and to remember life is for the living. Now, it's my time. You and yours are in my thoughts and in my heart. CS

    How about some respect?
Don't you think the title, and this in particular, "If you'd like to send the Medved's a card" is a little out of place? Why not, I realized that you too may want the chance to send your condolences or express them here: 1820 Eastlake Ave East, Seattle WA 98102

I'm unclear on where the disrespect is. I was merely giving people a chance to respond if they felt compelled to do so. Since I was filling in for Michael, I knew listeners would be emailing me with requests for information, so I thought I would preemptively help them. I do like the way you worded it, and would have used it had I thought of it.--Dave
