Convicted woman says W.Va. torture case was real
WEST COLUMBIA, W.Va. (AP) - A woman serving in prison for her role in the 2007 kidnapping and torture of a black woman in West Virginia says the victim wasn't telling the truth when she denied this week that the attack occurred.
Frankie Brewster told WCHS-TV in Charleston on Friday that she and six others committed a multitude of crimes against Megan Williams, who has since moved to Ohio.
Brewster also says in the prison interview that she and the others participated in the attack. All pleaded guilty and six were sentenced to prison.
On Wednesday, a lawyer representing Williams says she now is recanting her story and fabricated the attack.
While all seven people convicted in the case are white, Brewster says race wasn't a factor.
