Seattle says snow plan is ready
KIRO Radio
They've tested the trucks and the GPS, and today the Seattle Department of Transportation will tell the city council it is ready for winter.
City snow plows now come equipped with GPS tracking, something they didn't have last winter when Seattle's streets went days without snow removal.
The system has been checked and the city can now monitor each truck and get them where they need to go.
On Monday SDOT will brief the council on its plans that include a commitment to clear the major roads within eight hours. There's also an emphasis on getting secondary roads open in at least one direction.
The plan includes a salt-brine street treatment that the city will use before a big storm is expected to hit.
The city spend $400,000 on its new plans.
