    1,500 car procession
It's a slain police officer but he is also just another human being who has been shot. Are these 1,500 getting paid for this parade? If I lose a prominent member of my family can I disrupt traffic to accommodate our funeral dirge without a permit? I abhor this killing but I can not relate to the idealization of those who decided to join law enforcement and fire fighting. These are noble endeavors but every time I turn around they ask me for money. To pay for 1.500 to pay respect to one slain officer. If you consider that the Unions asked too much of Boeing.. how can you not look at what the Police Guilds have for their own; I'm sorry, but they always want more that I think they deserve.

This is what they do to honor their fallen brother. It is a sign of respect and love. I am sorry you have a problem with it.I view it as a sad but beautiful and honorable thing. As for asking for more money, they need it for everything. They don't just get cash handed to them and told here you go guys buy what you need. They have to raise money for all causes. If you don't like it don't donate it. I feel terrible for his family and hope that no one reads how callous and rude your words are..

I'm not sure what kind of souless world you want to live in, ...but I'm pretty sure that MOST of us understand the importance of honoring those who protect the community in which we live in. This was not an attack on one police officer(or as you put it-just another human being), it was an attack on all of us. Join the human race..

    Sorry
I do feel sorry for the police officer but this is a little over board considering we are at war weather you believe it or not and we have young people getting killed every week and no one seems to care. When you take a job in the military or the police force you take a risk and I do feel for the cop and his family and think he should be shone respect but we should not forget the people in the military and their families and it seams that they are forgotten. My wish is that we could have a little compassion for all who die in the line of duty.

    The majority of us . . .
Are going on our own time. Our agencies do not pay us to be there - we do it in honor of a fallen member. I am also a 10 year military vet. I go to also honor a fellow vet. Friday is a scheduled day off for me. Yet I will be at work at 0600 to be ready to attend, getting done when things are done. ALL VOLUNTARY. We are coming from all over, on our own time, to pay our respects and make our statement.

    Too much
I believe we should find ways to honor this fallen police officer. But the police are being arrogant. Just because they can throw their weight around and stop people from going to their appointments, doesn't mean they should. I happen to know that a particular little old lady will not make her doctor's appointment tomorrow because of this. She called the police, and they said they won't let any pedestrians through. Instead of encouraging us to remember this officer with love, they will be inspiring us to shake our fists at them.

    Dear emrotimuse...
I understand your point of view, but then again I do not. I think the reason you feel this is because you have no background in community service or defending those who cannot defend themselves. Tell me, what do you do for a living? Have you ever had a little girl run up to you and hug you when you came to their door because you just stopped her dad from beating her mom? Have you ever walked into a building knowing an armed gunman is killing innocent people and is expecting you and will try to kill you? Officer Brenton and any officer who dies in the line of duty is well deserving of a 1500 car procession or a 6000 vehicle procession...numbers don't mean anything. It's one thing to die tragically. It's another to die while you are protecting innocent people. I am a police officer and will tell you that it is flat out ignorant for you to think something like this. Until you have experienced things that firefighters or police officers have experienced you should keep your opinion to yourself. Walk in our shoes and then get back to us. We protect people, good and bad. We protect people like you who question the validity of our mission and purpose. We protect those who say "f*** you pigs". We protect all innocent people no matter their dislike for the police. If it were not for police, every thing in life you value would be at risk for loss. You could not keep your house/property, loved ones or even job. Police are the line that divides order from chaos. Without police everything you take for granted in life would be harder for you to keep. please think about this..
