An overnight standoff at a north Seattle home ended when police discovered the man inside had killed himself.

Spokesman Mark Jamieson says it began about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday with a domestic violence call in the 8200 block of 4th Ave NE. A woman said the man accused her of cheating and punched and strangled her.

The man was gone when officers arrived. The woman and a 1-year-old child who was involved were treated at a hospital for scratches and bruises.

Jamieson says the man returned to the home, called police demanding to know where his family had gone and threatening to kill himself.

Police surrounded the home. The man refused to negotiate or come out. A SWAT team entered the home about 3 a.m. Wednesday and found him dead from a self-inflicted shot to the head.

    Hey McD0uche
I bet the cops did it and are just framing the guy, right? The only bad people are cops, and since you can tell from the story that the deceased was a model citizen, it must have been the cops. Ya d0uche.

    Jacinto... some perspective...
RatBob is referring to another poster who comes here regularly and accuses the cops of being the guilty party most of the time. When you've been here a while you'll notice some of the posters are regulars and develop patterns... we have a regular who usually leaps to the conclusion that the police were out of line shooting somone (nearly every time ther is an officer involved shooting or standoff ending in death). RatBob should probably know better than to call out another poster personally.

    au contraire...
I should change my name to "silentnomore." I used to let stuff like AJ's comments go unchallenged since it is just an opinion. I have since come to believe that while we ARE all allowed to voice our opinions, some are so abhorrent that they deserve a response. Partly as a means to express disgust at such statements, but mostly as a means to point out to AJ McD0uche and others that his comments are so foolish and repugnant that to agree would expose one as an unthinking buffoon. Thus the calling out of another poster personally.
