Five anti-war demonstrators were arrested after cutting through a security fence at the nuclear missile storage facility for Trident submarines at Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor.

The Kitsap Sun reports they carried a banner that said, "Disarm Now Plowshares: Trident: Illegal and Immoral."

Navy spokesman Chris Haley says an alarm went off when the group entered at 6:30 a.m. Monday, and they were arrested on suspicion of trespass and destruction of government property, cited and released.

The five are identified as 81-year-old Catholic priest Bill Bischel of Tacoma, 83-year-old nun Anne Montgomery of New York City, 65-year-old Susan Crane of Baltimore, 60-year-old Lynne Greenwald of Bremerton and 60-year-old Steve Kelly of Oakland, Calif.

    Iressponsible antics by purported clergy
How irresponsible ! Our military have enough to worry about with real terrorists, who want to get inside the base so they can actually explode a nuclear weapon on our soil. With so many real needs in our society, these fools are playing games with the security of nuclear weapons; And if these idiots succeed; the terrorists will most certainly learn from their exploits and use it to attack our military members. Cetainly Jesus would approve of our military members being killed as a result of these ignoramus' showing our enemies the way. The government needs to send the fence repair bill to their Parish so the members of these alleged clergy can pick-up the tab, and then they need to be assigned to a reclusive order somewhere outside of our contry where they can sit and conspire against that nations safety and security.

    Catholics...
no wonder. They should be out there praying over their little beads and giving thanks to all their saints that they have freedom due to these Tridents.

    What's truly immoral
Is "breaking and entering". Isn't that against Bible teachings? Silly Catholics...laws are for others.

well I guess they got what they really wanted
publicity........I guess they didn't have enough to protest in their own cities they had to come here to do it. Is the Catholic church running out of importent things they could be doing instead of breaking the law?

I have met Father Bischel around my neighborhood
His parish and the house that he and a few other priests live in is just down the street from my office. I have found him to be a very thoughtful and intelligent man. I have watched him minister, clothe and feed the poor, drug addicts and homeless in the neighborhood. I even donated once so they could buy blankets for kids who didn't have heat in their homes in the winter. Regardless of whether you agree or disagree with his position you should show the proper respect to members of the clergy.

    Respect Our Service Men
"Regardless of whether you agree or disagree with his position you should show the proper respect to members of the clergy." REALLY? When he chose to break the law, place our service men at risk, waste the tax payers money in arrest and prosecution costs and excuse his illegal behavior for his own perception on life, he lost all right to be respected!! I believe, firmly, the whole group did nothing more than show terrorist that we do not deploy deadly force when security is breached. SHAME ON THEM!!!! SHAME ON THEIR NARROW VIEWS!!!! No RESPECT is due someone who willingly breaks the law, placing others at risk.
