Not enough vaccine in King County, 12,000 doses in Snohomish

It could be next year before King County has enough swine flu vaccine for everybody.

The county continues to ration doses to high risk groups. Health officer David Fleming says the amount of illness has now surpassed the level reached last spring and is still growing.

"We will continue to see increases in the number of cases hospitalizations and unfortunately, deaths over the next several weeks at least," said Fleming.

Fleming says King County expects to receive 50,000 to 70,000 doses each week, but as many as one million county residents should get the vaccine and it could take months before supply meets demand.

In Snohomish County, the health department will give out 12,000 doses of vaccine Saturday.

They'll be distributed at 10 different locations, starting at 9a.m. but expect people to show up a lot earlier.

"We'll have lines and we know we'll be crowded. We'll give out as much vaccine as we have," said Chris Badger, with the Snohomish County "Unified Command" for the H-1-N-1 Virus.

The vaccine will be available for pregnant women, people ages six months through 24 years, people with medical conditions such as asthma, diabetes, or lung disease, teachers, professional child care providers, and health care workers.

    Obama's Katrina
Obama's Katrina- A few years ago we the United States experienced the devastation of Katrina where a few thousand people died. The democrats were all over FEMA and the Bush administration's so called failure for being late a few days in an area where people were told to evacuate. Today, thousands continue to die because of the inability of the government to approve and distribute the N1H1 vaccine quickly enough, even tough the vaccine has already been developed. Where is the outrage now? Thousands are still dying and a lot more will die before this will be over. The media doesn't seem to care now that Obama is the president. Shouldn't this be Obama's "Katrina" failure?

    Not Obama's Katrina
No e233, you're another Dori Monson/Glen Beck/Rush Limbaugh listening moron. The Foolish George W. Bush did NOT have to grow FEMA aid in an egg. The relief was already in place and waiting, unlike a vaccine in which the virus is grown within a chicken egg. But hey, since you hate Barack Obama more than you love America then I guess it's your prerogative. Why don't you go protest some gay marriage or bomb an abortion clinic instead?

All I'm going to say is......
Obama needs not talk out of his butt then. He was the one up there saying no problem we'll have 150 million doeses or whatever in his speech. So I'd say to you CJN calm the heck down!

Is there nothing Obama can't screw up?
Good grief people. The president has next to nothing to do with vaccine production. He's doing the best he can and at least there IS a vaccine. In the old days we'd be saying good bye to many members of our communities due to flu complications. Quit whining. I can't think of a time that the US has ever come up with a vaccine so quickly.

    Bush / Obama
Hey CJN remember when bush was brow beat because of the flu vaccine shortage. So I guess in your liberal mind the fact that Obama had months to take care of this and didn't is not his fault. Fool

    CJN- Typical Lefty Reponse
CJN, The warning to Katrina was a few days at most where the population was told to evacuate and they decided not to. The response came a few days late and the mostly democratic response was that this was a failure. On the other hand, Obama failed to respond initially when the first cases of N1H1 appeared in Mexico. Instead of blaokading the boorder immediately, he instead decided to discuss this issue and take his time just like he is doing now with Afghanistan. Obama cannot make proper decisions in times of crisis and his opponents warned of this in the pre-election debates when his reponse was that he needs to consult with the UN and the Europeans for most critical issues. Additionally, he failed to prep the process to produce the needed vaccinations by waiving the drug company regulations which were then in place, even tough he knew the flu season was coming and that N1H1 was forecasted as becoming serious in fall. He only waived these regulations last week while playing some golf. This not only reflects how poor his decision making process is, but also how disturbing of a process a government health care system would be if approved. Rationing and health care by committe woudl be the norm, if you'd be luky to get any at all. Face it: Obama sucks and you can't handle it because you were stupid to know any better!

    H1N1 vaccine availability is terrible
I'm in a group that would qualify for getting the vaccine right now, but no luck today. Snohomish County ran out an hour and 15 minutes after started giving the shots. I'm certain that there were quite a few people getting the shot that were NOT in the qualified group (people do that all the time and there are no Vaccination Police). Those people should be ashamed of themselves!

    e233 - Typical Conservative Response
So because Obama didn't enact your xenophobe response he's a failure? Let me remind you while the twin towers were falling, the Exalted George W. Bush sat in a classroom with children for 8 more minutes reading "My Pet Goat". You can't keep blaming Obama for everything. Unless of course you're just a weak minded racist in which case keep doing so. Remember, McCain lost and his VP candidate was the matriarch of a family of retards. Maybe you should pray harder for the swine flu to go away. Let's switch the blame to God instead. Fool.

CJN - Idiot With A Keyboard

Typical Liberal/Progressive mudslinging, goon who's completely unsuited for engaging in any form of intelligent discourse. The only form of response CJN and his/her ilk are capable of producing are mindless ad hominem attacks.

    Go spew your filth elsewhere!
