A break-in victim fought back with a knife as a robber tried to break into her apartment in the 7400 block of Rainier Ave S. early Tuesday morning.

The suspect first tried entering the apartment by manipulating the lock, but when that didn't work the suspect kicked down the door and entered the apartment around 2 a.m.

The victim inside the apartment tried to stop the burglar, stabbing the suspect in the shoulder with a knife.

The suspect then fled the apartment, and the victim gave chase. Police arrived on the scene shortly after and broke up the chase. The police account says officers "rescued the suspect from the victim."

The suspect was taken to Harborview Medical Center and later booked into King County jail for Investigation of Burglary.

    Irony will be
The robber will sue the victim and win a boat load of cash.

    lucky robber
If that scum bag had broken into my place I would have planted that knife squarely in the middle of his chest and twisted the heck out of it...

    I'm no detective.........
.....but did the robber give the statement to the police that they were manipulating the lock, or did the victim? From where I sit (handing down my lightning bolts of wisdom), sounds like a domestic dispute gone bad. I'm no burgler, but isn't 'quiet' part of their 'code'? Do they usually kick doors in at 2 a.m? Do victims usually stand there with a knife watching the doorknob being rattled with knife in hand or are they on the phone to 911, or out the window? I dunno....think there might be a little alcohol involved?

    She's got a little fight in her . . .
Assuming it was a lady victive, I have to say, it's nice to see someone turn the tables on a would-be robber. I'd like to think I'd be able to show so much backbone in a similar situation. Honestly, I think I would have climbed out the back window if I heard someone trying to break into my home.

I wanted this story to be about the good guys winning one for a change, but the facts as presented here seem hinky. Sounds like an ex-bf paying a visit after the bars closed....

    Who cares
what the previous relationship between the victim and the perpetrator was. You kick in someone's door and if your shot, stabbed or bludgeoned it's kind of what you need.
