Seattle will be host to various activities and events this weekend as part of LGBT Equality Weekend.

The Seattle events coincide with marches and rallies across the country, including the National Equality March taking place this weekend in Washington D.C.

The Seattle marchers are walking under the banner, "We stand for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender freedom and oppose racism, sexism and other forms of oppression."

Events begin on Saturday with community workshops on LGBT issues, and an HIV/AIDS vigil to be held at the corner of Broadway and Pine.

The weekend concludes with the Seattle LGBT Equality March leaving from Volunteer Park at 3 p.m. Sunday and ending at the Federal Courthouse, with a rally to follow on the courthouse plaza.

    kidjon,
who is "your" and "our" ? Individuals are individuals and Civil Rights are Civil Rights, your opinion is YOUR opinion, and it is YOUR morality that you are using to deny other indivduals their rights, You, Sir, are a bigot and a hater.

Were you trying to be funny or was it some deeply repressed homosexual yearning rearing it's head through your words? Nobody is trying to shove anything down your throat, be it 'morals' or body parts. Perhaps you and yours should quit trying to impose your archaic, uneducated values on anyone you want. Perhaps you and yours ned to evaluate your own sexuality BEFORE attacking anyone elses. Once you know and are secure with yours, you will find that others no longer make you feel threatened... by your own uncertainty. Oh, and one last thing. Homosexuality is NOT contagious and/or transferred throught contact; swine flu is.

    Party
This sounds more like a party than a political demonstration. Broadway and Pine, right. Why not find a more anti-GBTL (or whatever order they go in) to march? I'm sure that anyone on Broadway is already fully aware of the issue, if not very supportive of GBTL rights (as I am.)

Once all of the bigots (sickos)as you call them, are out of office then real progress can start. Once they are gone the KKK will only be a bad memory.

it is not abot bigotry, hating or being a homophobe. It is about the slippery slope of giving full approval to a sexual lifestyle that is a choice. That's right, homosexuality is ultimately a choice. you are not born that way. And, for society and government to extend special rights to a group based on sexual choice is maddening. Rosa Parks would be rolling over in her grave. What group is next, will bill? xtending rights and recognition to members of NAMBLA? Afterall, you obviously believe people are born gay so is it such a stretch for men that want to love on boys is natural and obviously they were born that way. What about people that prefer to be in the company of animals? They were obviously born that way if we were all in wild bills perverted world. It isn't about hate and bigotry, it is a wisdom that sees folly in giving special regognition to a group because of their sexual choices.

you will find yourself a lot further back in the closet when all your supporters are back on the street, and not in congress,or the senate
