Six dogs rescued from filthy and criminal conditions at a home in Bothell are slowly recovering in a sanctuary.
The woman living in the home surrendered the dogs to county animal control officers Friday. She may face animal cruelty charges.
While shaved and cleaned, some of these animals still have serious problems. The dogs have deformed feet and rotted teeth.
"We knew is was going to be really bad, but when I started bringing out the animals, I couldn't even tell where the head of the animals were. I knew they were dogs from what they said, but you wouldn't have known from looking at them," said one worker with Pasado's Safe Haven, the organization that took the dogs from King County Animal Control.
The dogs are undergoing treatment, which includes some extreme grooming.
"I was with Snickers the whole time he was shaved. It was amazing to watch him start moving and be able to move," said another employee.
Pasado's Safe Haven says it will be awhile before the dogs can be adopted.
"These guys have definitely been through incredible amounts of long term trauma."
