A suspect in a recent shooting has been shot by a Tacoma police officer.
Tacoma police detective Mark Fulghum says officers went to the man's home near Point Defiance Park to respond to a report of a despondent man who might have been suicidal, "There were concerns that he might be trying to harm himself so we were checking to make sure that did not happen."
Fulgham says there was a confrontation, and the 19-year-old man was shot. He suffered serious injuries.
Before the shooting, he was about to become the subject of a Crime Stoppers alert. He's a suspect in a recent University Place shooting that apparently involved his girlfriend.
