Some Beacon Hill residents are up in arms about new power lines that suddenly cut off their prized view, and they're blaming the new light rail line.

Seattle City Light officials say they understand some people are upset, but the new power lines were needed not only for light rail but for buses and continued growth in Rainier Valley.

Spokesman Scott Thomsen says, while they tried to take neighbors into consideration, soil conditions limited where new poles could go.

"We were unable to find a spot in the mid-area of Beacon Hill that had enough stable soil conditions in a location where we could site a pole," he said.

Thomsen says Seattle City Light did take neighbors into consideration, but had to do what's best for the greatest number of customers.

"We recognize that there is going to be an impact on some of the residents in that area. We also have a responsibility to make sure that we're able to provide a reliable service for all of the needs of our customers in the area," said Thomsen.

Just more victims of the green war on America. Just wait until the landscape is covered with solar collecting mirrors and wind generators.

    Beacon Hill Power Lines
City Light says they don't have the money to bury the cables, which would cost $1,000,000...Now we hear reports tha the "coming out party" will cost $1,000,000....Now that REALLY makes sense.

Serves those folks right. I am betting that most of them voted in favor of light rail, or supported the politicians that brought them this choo-choo monstrosity and waste of money.
