Eastbound I-90 reopens at Snoqualmie Pass after rockfall
KIRO Radio
The Transportation Department says the eastbound lanes of Interstate 90 over Snoqualmie Pass have reopened after officials examined a slope where a boulder fell on the roadway.
KIRO-TV reports a milk truck hit the boulder about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday and the driver was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
The eastbound lanes were closed near North Bend for nearly six hours.
Geo-technicians inspected the slope, kicking down another group of loose rocks. It appears the boulder "bounced" over the top of a concrete rock guard.
Drivers can expect snow in the Cascade passes Tuesday afternoon. The National Weather Service says the snow level is dropping below the passes and up to 4 inches of snow are possible.
