Vanessa Williams on Hannah Montana mania

Hannah Montana: The Movie hit theatres Friday, debuting at No. 1 in its opening weekend with $34 million in ticket sales.
Actress Vanessa Williams who plays what she describes as a "pushy publicist" in the film gave KIRO's Ron & Don the skinny on why she agreed to participate in the picture. "I have an eight year old daughter who is prime Hannah Montana fan. And the year before we had gone to her concert, the 3-D movie of her concert, we had seen her at the high school musical premiere, and we have it playing 24/7 in our house. So I definitely knew about the Hannah Montana mania."
When her managers approached her with the project Williams says she didn't think twice. "My management called and said, 'Listen, I know you only have two months off of from your shooting for Ugly Betty, but there's a small role in the Hannah Montana film, what do you think?' And I said, 'You know what I don't even need to read it. Yes I'll do it, I'm in."
In the halls of Hannah Montana mania, this film follows last year's sold-out Cyrus-Montana concert tour and her Best of Both Worlds Concert 3D movie, which grossed more than $60 million, a rare hit for a concert film. Cyrus says that she doesn't know whether she would do another Hannah Montana movie, but she has signed on for a third season for the Hannah Montana television series on Disney.
Word is that "Hannah Montana fans will love this movie." Get those kids in the minivan now, you're about to make their weekend.
