A movement is stirring to keep the Seattle Post Intelligencer going.

According to a P-I employee website, journalists plan to keep an online version of their paper going for at least a couple of months if the paper stops publishing, which could happen mid-March.

The goal is to get subscribers and philanthropists to fund the online version.

"In the short run, the hope really lies with grant makers, foundations, and individuals who have a large sum of money at their disposal and want to invest it in their community to support journalism that goes two, three, or four layers deep," said Reporter Daniel Lathrop.

P-I staffers point to successful online papers in Minnesota and San Diego. They think the same type of models could work in Seattle and believe people appreciate the kind of watch-dog and community reporting the P-I offers.

The Hearst Corporation, the P-I's owner, plans to sell the newspaper if no buyer steps forward.

Yellow rag deserves what is happening. It was warned 10 years ago that print media was being replaced by digital and web, and didn't listen. Dumb editors wouldn't believe that newspapers would cease to exist when media went web. As one who warned them - I TOLD YOU SO YOU IDIOTS. Now look - they are looking to save themselves by going web - too late, the ship has left the dock.

    Watchdog?
Don't they mean Lapdog (of the Democrat Party)? I will not miss this rag. They made the decision to alienate me, and all other Libertarians with their biased reporting long ago. They are nothing more then a multi page editorial sheet for Liberals.

    Liberal?
I cannot repeat myself enough, not only did they miss the fact that things are changing in this world from print to web, but they also blatantly ignored comments about how liberal their approach was to news. I actually had them call to push for a subscription and when I said not at all they were really shocked that I found their left leaning approach to news totally unprofessional for a newspaper. And no, I am not saying that I want it leaning to the Right either. Just convey all the facts, not just one way or the other. The news media is continuing to display their ignorance of their attitudes even today with the ongoing Obamagasims in the news. Come on, just report what is going on, I don't want to hear your opinion couched in supposed information feeds. The fact that they could not or would not see this problem just confirms that they need to go away, and maybe come back more centrist, as any really good news agency should be.

I'm very happy to donate a year's supply of carbon credits to the idiots on the PI editoral board.

    P-I asking for donations
Why don't you ask your savior, Obama the Fraud, for some money. Apparently, he intends to bail out every failed business he can, even if it destroys what's left of our country's economy.

    Death of the P.I. (Pravda-Isveztia)
I am welcoming the demise of this Liberal Rag that supposedly called itself a newspaper. Several years ago I received a subscription sales call from a PI sales rep and I told her I was not interested in paying money to read liberal agenda and opinions. Boy did she unravel! I am smiling and I hope the online version goes belly up as well.

    Deserves To Fail
When their on-line editing results in things like this: The Hearst Corporation, the P-I's owner, plans to sell the newspaper if no buyer steps forward. . . . then they deserve what befalls them. BO'K

I think David Horsey should make a cartoon about this, drawing himself into a corner.

    It's Palin's fault!
I remember during the campaign how the PI kept putting Palin on the front, whether it was about her 'Troopergate' or her wardrobe--day in day out. Then when she was cleared in Troopergate they buried the story on page 8. But when Obama's buddy Blago got in trouble, you had to use a microscope and a fine tooth comb to find the story...then when you did, it took four paragraphs to mention he was a democrat!
